Zipline has opened a new distribution centre in Nigeria. Muhammad Ali Pate, Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Nigeria and Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa performed the commissioning ceremony on the centre that targets to improving healthcare delivery in Nigeria.

The state-of-the-art distribution centre is set to enhance the country’s resilience in healthcare by providing fast, on-demand medical deliveries using advanced drone technology. The integration of cold storage, inventory management, and efficient warehousing will allow Zipline to serve hundreds of health facilities and community sites within Bayelsa, covering an area of 38,000 square kilometers. This is particularly crucial in reaching remote areas where traditional healthcare access may be limited.

Zipline’s achievements

Since Zipline started operations in Bayelsa in 2023, it has made impressive contributions to the state’s healthcare system, delivering over one million vaccine doses and more than 71,000 units of essential medicines. In addition, the company has played a pivotal role in vaccination and health campaigns that have provided life-saving supplements and medicines to local residents.

Muhammad Ali Pate, Nigeria’s Minister of Health and Social Welfare, emphasized the broader vision of improving healthcare infrastructure across the country and highlighted how technology, such as Zipline’s drone services, contributes to this goal.
