Maiaddy, a Nigerian location intelligence start-up founded by Obinna Onyejeli, recently launched its loccode system, which aims to revolutionize Nigeria’s addressing issues.

This launch event, held on X Spaces (formerly Twitter) and moderated by Ada Nsitem, featured notable figures like Chidi Anyaegbu from Chisco Group, Irene Nwaukwa of Infinity Health Africa, and other leaders from various sectors who discussed the loccode’s potential applications.

Growth in e-commerce and logistics sector

Nigeria has a rapidly expanding e-commerce and logistics sector, yet it struggles with inefficient address systems, which obstruct deliveries and government services. Inspired by the impact of zip codes and postcodes globally, Obinna developed the loccode, an alphanumeric system, in just two months with his three-person team. The loccode covers every area in Nigeria, allowing residents to identify their unique location codes through the Maiaddy app, available on both iOS and Android.

The system is designed to replace Nigeria’s long and inconsistent address formats, streamlining logistics, delivery services, and government processes by enabling efficient location-based interactions. Experts across industries shared their enthusiasm for the loccode’s potential at the event, highlighting its usefulness for logistics, healthcare, fintech, and government operations. In addition, Maiaddy is building relationships with state and local governments and discussing a partnership with the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST).

Obinna emphasized Maiaddy’s vision to unlock Nigeria’s location intelligence potential: “There are a lot of sectors where location intelligence comes in handy and has the potential to revolutionize the industry. I’m happy to announce that the loccode system is now live and positioned to serve Nigeria for good.”
