Air Cargo Africa
This year’s edition of Air Cargo Africa will highlight East Africa’s growing importance as a logistics hub, driven by Kenya’s robust infrastructure, such as the Nairobi Inland Container Depot, Lamu Port, and the Mombasa-Nairobi High-Speed Rail. The event will also showcase innovations in airfreight and multi-modal transport solutions, emphasizing the region’s strategic position in global trade.
A standout feature of the event will be a full-day session on February 21 focused on health and humanitarian logistics, curated by the Health and Humanitarian Logistics Association. Additionally, an exclusive awards ceremony on February 20 will recognize industry excellence.
Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, one of Africa’s leading cargo hubs, handled 112,000 tons of cargo in Q1 2024, underlining the region’s growing significance in air cargo. Africa’s air cargo sector is experiencing robust growth, fueled by the demand for goods like fresh produce, pharmaceuticals, and specialty items, such as horticulture, coffee, and seafood, which make up 80% of exports.
“Air Cargo Africa is coming home,” said Dick Murianki, Director of Kenya Airways Cargo, emphasizing the role of Nairobi and East Africa in driving global airfreight innovation.
