Jumia Technologies AG has announce plans to open two warehouses in Egypt and Ivory Coast. These facilities, covering 27,000 square meters in Egypt and 36,000 square meters in Ivory Coast, are set to become operational by January 2025. The move is part of Jumia’s broader strategy to expand upcountry, drive e-commerce growth, and improve operational efficiency across Africa.

The new warehouses will enhance delivery times, increase storage capacity, and improve cost efficiencies, all while optimizing the employee experience. This expansion follows similar initiatives in Lagos, Nigeria, and Casablanca, Morocco. Jumia’s CEO, Francis Dufay, emphasized the importance of these expansions in supporting customer acquisition and positioning the company for further growth, particularly in addressing growing e-commerce demand in Africa.

Goals

“The expansion of our warehouses in Egypt and Ivory Coast mark a key part of Jumia’s growth trajectory. By enabling us to expand supply capacity and improve convenience and delivery times, we are able to better serve our customers while positioning Jumia for upcountry expansion. These openings, in conjunction with our broader customer acquisition acceleration initiatives and consolidation of our warehouse footprint position Jumia to best capture e-commerce demand in Africa and move towards profitability,” said CEO Francis Dufay.

Jumia operates in 11 African countries and offers a marketplace connecting over 64,000 sellers, a logistics network for deliveries, and JumiaPay, a payment platform facilitating transactions. The company’s mission is to leverage technology to improve the quality of life in Africa and support businesses in reaching customers more effectively.
