The government of Egypt and MSC International Group have forged a strategic partnership to enhance collaboration in transport and logistics. The agreement focuses on managing and operating seaports, dry ports, rail freight, and logistics zones, aiming to strengthen Egypt’s position as a key player in global trade.

Minister of Transport, Kamel el-Wazir highlighted the importance of this partnership in supporting Egypt’s Vision 2030, which seeks to modernize transport infrastructure, lower trade costs, and promote sustainable economic growth. MSC’s CEO, Soren Toft, expressed confidence in Egypt’s potential, underscoring the country’s strategic geographic location and commitment to improving its logistics capabilities. This collaboration is expected to attract new investments and improve the operational efficiency of Egypt’s ports, enhancing their competitiveness on a global scale.

MoU

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Egypt’s Ministry of Transport and MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company SA reflects Egypt’s strategy to become a regional hub for transport and transit trade. Minister el-Wazir emphasized that the goal is not just to upgrade port infrastructure but to create an integrated logistics system that meets international standards.

MSC subsidiaries will conduct feasibility studies to identify opportunities for enhancing port operations and increasing trade capacity. Toft reiterated MSC’s commitment to supporting Egypt’s development in maritime and logistics sectors, highlighting the country’s advantageous position in global trade routes. This partnership is expected to boost Egypt’s trade potential and attract more foreign investment, positioning the country as a competitive player in the maritime industry.
