DHL Freight has opened a new logistics terminal in Berlin-Marienfelde, enhancing its operations in the region. Spanning 5,200 square meters, the facility features 48 loading docks and state-of-the-art infrastructure, replacing the previous terminal in Berlin. This development aligns with DHL Freight’s commitment to modern, efficient, and environmentally friendly logistics.

According to Dr. Thomas Vogel, CEO of DHL Freight DACH, UK & IE, the new terminal not only expands capacity but also promotes sustainability. By integrating advanced technologies and optimized processes, DHL aims to improve both efficiency and environmental impact, benefiting customers and the broader community.

Features

The facility features sustainable features such as alternative drive vehicles, installation of a heat pump system, rainwater collection cistern, and energy-saving LED lighting, charging stations powered by renewable energy, along with a photovoltaic system and wind turbines.

The new terminal strengthens DHL Freight’s European network and enhances service quality for customers in Berlin and nearby areas. Additionally, it serves as a testing site for innovative logistics solutions.

Developed on a former industrial site, the facility was completed in just 14 months through collaboration with Operatio GmbH and Bremer Berlin-Brandenburg GmbH. Along with DHL Freight’s existing location in Wustermark, this new terminal reinforces logistics infrastructure in the Berlin-Brandenburg region.
