Andela, has inked a partnership deal with Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) to train 20,000 African professionals in cloud-native technologies over the next three years.

The initiative aims to address the global shortage of skilled cloud professionals by equipping participants with expertise in Kubernetes and other cloud-native tools, enabling them to earn certifications such as the Kubernetes and Cloud Native Associate (KCNA) and the Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD).

Tech talent development

The partnership will see a six to nine months per participant training, spread across three years. Participants will then after earn certifications such as the Kubernetes and Cloud Native Associate (KCNA) and the Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD). They will further gain access to a community of learners and mentorship opportunities.

This initiative highlights the growing importance of cloud-native technologies and Africa’s potential as a vital hub for tech talent development. The partnership is strategically positioned to bridge a significant global talent gap. With an estimated 7.5 million cloud-related job vacancies expected by 2025, the demand for cloud-native professionals has outpaced supply, leading to project delays and increased costs for businesses. By empowering African developers with these high-demand skills, Andela and CNCF aim to strengthen Africa’s presence in the global tech industry while offering a solution to the worldwide talent crisis.

Chris Aniszczyk, CTO of CNCF emphasized the collaboration’s role in empowering African developers and addressing the global talent shortage. Carrol Chang, CEO of Andela also highlighted the alignment of this initiative with Andela’s mission to connect African talent to global opportunities.
