Safaricom is marking its 24th anniversary with the theme “24 Years of Transforming Lives: Celebrating Through Service.” Since its inception on October 23, 2000, Safaricom has become much more than a telecommunications company, transforming into a catalyst for Kenya’s technological, social, and economic progress.

As part of the celebrations, Safaricom is expressing gratitude to its customers through a range of offerings, such as unique M-PESA surprises, merchandise giveaways, Mama Pack distributions, and transportation perks. These gestures celebrate customer loyalty and the vital role they’ve played in the company’s journey.

Growth

Safaricom has grown from a mobile network operator to a central force in Kenya’s digital economy. One of its most notable innovations, M-PESA, revolutionized mobile money, providing Kenyans with a new way to manage finances, conduct business, and make payments. Additionally, Safaricom has advanced from offering 2G services to launching a 5G network, empowering the nation with high-speed internet and enabling it to embrace emerging digital technologies.

Through the Safaricom Foundation, the company has invested billions in healthcare, education, economic empowerment, and environmental conservation, fostering long-term positive change across Kenya.

Safaricom plans to engage in a yearlong celebration involving diverse stakeholders, including customers, communities, partners, and regulatory bodies, aiming to further enhance its impact and advance the industry.
